The History of Star Trek CCG: Introductory Two-Player Game

July 15, 2004

The first product with "preconstructed" decks, the Two-Player Game was intended to introduce beginners to the game. The decks unfortunately were sadly underpowered, with only a single dilemma per mission (all of which were planets). Its main utility was in the handful of premium cards it contained.

Factoids

  • Spock, although white-bordered and packed with the Federation deck, is not part of that Federation deck but is a 61st card (at that time, the fixed deck size was 60 card). It was printed in the center (121st) slot on the press sheet between the two 60-card decks.
  • The Two-Player Game decks (along with the Warp Packs) were the source of white-bordered "preview" versions of a number of cards from the Alternate Universe expansion, otherwise released only in black border. One of these cards was the I.K.C. K'Ratak, which had the attribute names incorrectly printed in mixed upper/lowercase (e.g., Weapons instead of WEAPONS). This was corrected on the black-bordered AU version.

Notable Cards

Mogh and Jarod never appeared in The Next Generation. Their images were created by blending features from their descendants on the shows.
