Big Risks... Big Rewards
Necessary Evil, Coming in February
Sacrifice points to soup up your battles? Discard cards to upgrade a download?
Consume extra dilemmas to create a slam-bang effect from one? Big risks...
but the rewards can be even bigger if you are willing to accept Necessary
Evil.
The newest expansion for the Star Trek CCG Second Edition adds new
strategies for all affiliations, and brings to the forefront some of the
darker moments of all five Star Trek television series. "The
title is expressed in many ways throughout the set," says designer
Evan Lorentz from the lore and the moments depicted on the cards
to the costs you pay and the risks you assume to obtain your goals. Although
many of the cards are not yet finalized, we can reveal one example now:
this rather unconventional version of everyone's favorite android. (Rarity
and collector's number not yet available.)

The set features early Next Generation versions of many of the Enterprise-D
bridge crew members, characters with "unexpected" affiliations
(like Data, Loyal Brother), two new keywords, cards that create benefits
for ship commanders and increased risks for multiple-headquarters decks,
and much more.
Necessary Evil will include 180 brand-new cards 60 each rare, uncommon,
and common, available in 11-card booster packs (MSRP $3.29) and is
slated for release on February 25, 2004. The Necessary Evil message board
(see link below) is open now for discussion watch decipher.com for
